Endings and Beginnings

I blinked and suddenly it's a year later! How does that happen?

The last time I posted was to update everyone on the progress of my sweet little travel trailer. I ended up making my very first quilt just for the trailer. It was only possible because my oldest son Jacob and my sweet hubby Jason bought me a sewing machine for my birthday that month.

The green and blue really clashed with those floral curtains, but I didn't want to invest more money into curtain fabric.

It was during this time that I was hopeful to get the last of the NEEDS for this little gal. Tires! And get the brakes hooked up! Those 2 things are all that stand in the way of getting out camping since we can use electric lanterns inside at night. Unfortunately there was never money in the budget for those things.

Alas, I only got to enjoy the trailer sitting in the driveway.

In June all my blood, sweat, and tears rolled away to be given new life with another family. I was pretty sad at first, but knowing they were going to be able to finish the last projects and make memories around the trailer gave me a sense of peace. Goodbye little trailer.

And that was that. I went on with life and kept myself busy with my new passion of quilt making.

These are just some of the quilts/quilt tops I have made. Right now I have a denim quilt almost finished....

This is right after I put all the colored squares in place. I just completed sewing all the curved edges down this morning. Tonight I'll sit with my spring loaded scissors and clip the edges so it will fray nicely in the washer and dryer.

Sometimes when you least expect it, you find yourself being offered an opportunity to do something you had figured was in your past.

This old gal was offered to Jason and I as a gift. Right now she's living on a storage lot in Nevada. At first I wasn't sure I had it in me to start over. Of course I had to at least take a trip and see her. That's all it took. I think she's got potential. A 1971 Terry travel trailer and she's just a little longer than our last girl. She's ready for some love and I'm so excited to be the one to do her lipstick and mascara.

We are just waiting on some paperwork so we can take ownership and then my newest project can begin. The ideas are already buzzing around in my head. I feel pretty lucky to have another shot at giving new life to an old trailer. Thanks for the opportunity Darrin!
